I couldn't begin to explain how magical my experience at Chapman House was!
Located in downtown Rochester, MI, about 40 minutes from Downtown Detroit. I decided to make a "getaway" out of my visit, and it really did feel like I traveled someplace else! My best friend, Erika, and I celebrated "Galentine's Day", and we felt like complete royalty from the second we walked through the door.
The house itself is outstanding. It is a historic home that the owner renovated to become a beautiful setting for a meal with a loved one, a client dinner, bridal shower, or corporate event. We (of course) started with drinks. I am a vodka girl and Erika loves tequila. The team behind the bar concocted something for each of us, which barely lasted through our walk-through! We ate dinner in an igloo. That's right. I basically was in Iceland, just north of Detroit.
Then came the food. Chris and Dan Cason, Chef and Sous-chef, also brothers, tout "modern American dining inspired by French culinary tradition". Menus are written daily and change based on season, because they locally source from the Great Lakes region. We ordered a colorful carrot salad, salmon lox appetizer, brussels sprout and apple salad, scallops and warm beets. You could taste the freshness in each and every bite, now I can't wait until I can try their brunch menu!
